After much contemplation on where to go to dinner on Saturday night, it was mutually decided between me and my two friends Ana and Jes that a Lebanese feast was in order. We had heard that the Al Aseel restaurant in Greenacre was exceptionally good, so decided to try out their second restaurant in Surry Hills. We hadn’t made a booking but rocked up at about 8.30pm and were seated straight away. The place was buzzing with a predominantly young crowd, with most of the tables being big groups celebrating birthdays or getting together with friends.
Hills
Sydney Council is doing a major upgrade of this park in inner suburb Surry Hills. I have blogged it before. This area was a bit of a wasteland with some degraded grass; now there’s a kids’ playground, and picnic and barbecue facilities.
I’m really looking forward to the re-opening of the pool in late 2011.
The state headquarters of Australia Post are located in the Prince Alfred Park Building on Cleveland Street, in an inner city locality known as Strawberry Hills. This part of Strawberry Hills is actually located in the suburb of Redfern. The building replaced the old Sydney Mail Exchange, also previously known as the notorious Redfern Mail Exchange which operated from 1965-1985. The palm trees outside the office building lead you down to Prince Alfred Park opposite. Strawberry Hill was the name of a hill under Northcott Place in nearby Surry Hills, later altered to Strawberry Hills for the locality.
These mailboxes are located outside the Strawberry Hills post office in the inner city suburb of Redfern. The red Australia Post mailbox is for standard letters and packages sent anywhere in the world, while the gold Express Post mailbox is for mail sent in special Express Post envelopes which for an additional cost are guaranteed next day delivery to certain parts of Australia.
This Strawberry Hills business centre post office is located on the ground floor of the Australia Post state headquarters, in the inner city suburb of Redfern. The wall-mounted post office boxes are located outside, running along the walls of two passageways on either side of this unit. The architectural style and colour of the unit is typical of the 1980s, which is when the Prince Alfred Park Building was built. A sign of these times is the number of vacant post office boxes flagged by the red and white advertisment signs indicating which ones are available to rent.
I have wanted to dine at Pizza e Birra ever since my Italian friend referred to it as one of the best places for pizza in Sydney. I don’t think I have made it clear in any of my other blogs but pizza is definitely one of my food favourites, and if i could have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner with different toppings daily, I would (as long as it somehow didn’t make me gain a whole lot of weight). When my bf George suggested we get Italian to celebrate my birthday,we ended up in the busy glass walled restaurant in Surry Hills.
