The Conservatorium of Music, in Sydney’s Botanic gardens, was originally the stables of Government House. I took this view across the gardens and conservatorium, looking towards Farm Cove, the indented waterway on a recent visit to the 8th floor office of the Royal Thai Consulate in Macquarie St. Farm Cove was the site of the first farm established by the First Fleet arrivals in 1788.
The Sydney Festival is an annual arts event held each January. It features all sorts of performing and visual arts events, talks and film.
We attended a show at the Parramatta Riverside theatre.
These cute stencils were along the footpaths, and I thought the diving swimmer one was rather appropriate for me.
The Sydney Jewish Museum is located on the corner of Darlinghurst Road and Burton Street, in the inner city suburb of Darlinghurst. It is housed in the Maccabean Hall, which was built to commemorate Jewish men and women who served in World War One and to honour the memory of those who lost their lives. The museum is dedicated to documenting and teaching the history of the Holocaust so that these events will never be repeated. The building on the left is the NSW Jewish War Memorial Community Centre, with a stylised menorah on the façade.
These birds were happy to pose for a photo on the sea wall that protects the Royal Botanic Gardens from Sydney Harbour, otherwise known as Port Jackson. The birds are Masked Lapwings or Spur-winged Plovers, which are native to Australia.
The Sydney Entertainment Centre is located on Harbour Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. It was opened in 1983 on the former site of the former Fruit and Vegetable Markets, which were part of Paddy’s Markets. It is one of Sydney’s larger concert venues, which can accommodate over 13,000 people. Although this entertainment centre is less than thirty years old, there are plans to demolish it and replace it with a new convention centre.

The Sydney Technical College building, which is part of the Sydney Institute of TAFE (Technical and Further Education), is located along Mary Ann Street in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. Built in 1891, it was designed by William Kemp in the Federation Romanesque architectural style. The brick and terracocotta construction is adorned with Australian ornamental plants and animals such as such as waratahs, kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, platypuses and lizards.
